“Yesterday’s Peacock, Today’s Feather Duster”!!
Today February 6th is “Lame Duck Day”, so let me start by saying that this is probably the most political that my readers will see me get. Secondly, if you are a DUCK and you are lame then by all means pleeeeze get to a vet for some medical attention.
A “Lame Duck” for definition of this post is a person who is in a position of some kind, any kind, and will soon be “shown the door”. As a matter of fact we just went through a “Lame Duck” session of congress after the last election. I am sure the President and House and Senate were not too happy about that. Oh well just two years earlier the other party had the same feelings.
As a PP (Past President) of our local REALTOR® Association I know all too well the feelings of joy over my success and the rewards of the position. I had problems rallying the troops to a meeting at the local watering hole. Don’t feel bad those feelings will pass.
So, on this” Lame Duck Day”, if you happen to be in that awkward position, enjoy your final days. You may want to reflect on your successes, the joy and rewards the position has provided you.
My new motto is: “Yesterday’s Peacock, Today’s Feather Duster”!!
Great advice. I hope I'm not a feather duster just yet, but eventually we all will be I suppose. I just don't want my feathers to get all bunched up and. . . wait a minute what were we talking about again? It's early, better turn the coffee pot on.
Tni, Tini,
Calm down now please don't get your feathers all ruffled up. Get another cup of coffee and relax. Have a SUPER Sunday.
Good morning Dan,
It will be interesting to hear what the board prez has to say. Hopefully it is a smile and not a frown.
Your quip about up one day, down the next is very appropriate in today's world. It is what we accomplish while on the top that provides our legacy and memories. Thanks for the thought!
Hi Don - A lot of board presidents have said the best part was becoming the PP. I never felt that way.
Wayne,
You are so right sir, there are times it feels as though we are on a roller coaster.
Conrad,
I felt that I had accomplished that that I had set out for me to do and enjoyed every minute of it. I have no regrets only happy memories and humbled at the same time.
Mike,
I am sure that you will not be close to being a feather duster anytime soon. Have a Super Sunday my friend.
Don...
You and I have had many conversions about the importance of the local boards. The job is thankless and the pay is non-existent, but the profession is maintained by these hard working volunteers.
Don...I know that feeling on a lower level. Being the feather duster wasn't all that bad
Good morning Richard,
You my friend are right it is because of the hard working volunteers that the job gets done and I am very thankful for all of them.
William,
The Feather Duster job can be just as rewarding if handled correctly. I just handed it to the little lady. :-))
Thanks Don for the notice on this special Lame Duck day. I had never heard that it had been set aside on the calendar. Political people should love this! Also, Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!
Good morning Gary,
After reading up on this this is what I found: "On February 6, 1933, the 20th amendment to the U.S. Constitution went into effect. This amendment addressed presidential succession.
