A resounding "YES!" to the question "Does it get cold in Phoenix, AZ?" How cold? My thermometer registered 26 degrees in Sun Lakes a couple nights ago. For the first time since I moved to Arizona in 2001 ~ the kids in my fountain are shivering and have ice on their heads.
But, not to worry. Us desert dwellers are hardy stock and we suffered through 2 nights of sub-zero temps with no frostbite.
I know, all of you in the snowbelt regions aren't breaking out the blankets, hot cocoa...or sympathy for us here in Arizona, especially since the temperature on my patio today is 72.
Living most of my life in Waukegan, Illinois and Kenosha, Wisconsin, I know what it's like to walk to school with snowbanks taller than me and temps with windchill 30 below zero.
I still love a great blizzard...when I'm watching it from my TV here in the Valley of the Sun.
I'll take this cold (but whimpy) cold snap in Arizona. It's a great small reminder of why I left those Midwest Winters for good!
