The morning after our latest snow storm I woke up to the sound of my neighbor digging his car out of the pile of snow and ice that was dumped on us this week. I heard the crunch crunch of the shovel the sound of the engine revving and whining of wheels spinning in the ice. This went on for some time in the early early part of the morning and then all was quiet.
I got up at my usual time and looked out the window only to discover that my neighbors car was still in its usual spot only with a shovel some wood, several mats and a container of rock salt next to the car in the snow. I fed Mr. Dog and started brewing a pot of coffee and heard over the morning chatter of the Good Morning America show a renewed attack on the ice and snow by my neighbor. After I was fully reinforced with several cups of coffee I ventured out to give my neighbor a hand. His car was really frozen in, we tried rocking the car and putting mats under the tires only to have the mat pulled under the spinning tires and spit out behind them not moving the car an inch, I got behind the car and pushed as my neighbor put the car in forward and reverse and we rocked but didn't get it out.
After many failed trys another neighbor came over and she took the wheel and rocked the car while two of us pushed and still the car didn't budge from the ice gullies it sat in. Finally the neighbor who was behind the wheel called her husband who was right around the corner and asked him if he could help. He joined us in a couple minutes and thanks to his muscles the car finaly was freed from the ice.
We all cheered about the success and by that time Mr. Dog had joined us and christened the newly freed tires on my neighbors car. I really means alot to have such great neighbors!!
