How Long Should You Stay Open on Super Bowl Sunday? And Who's Going to Win? Packers or Steelers?

If you've ever been a new homes site agent, there are certain Sundays that are harder to work than others. There's Mother's Day, of course, Memorial Day weekend, July 4th, and maybe a few others. (We close on Easter and around Thanskgiving & Christmas for a few days)

And there's also Super Bowl Sunday - it has always been hard to work for me as I am a huge football fan and I love watching all of the festivities leading up to the game. Sure it helps that the time of the game has been moved to primetime, but the Super Bowl parties usually start in the late afternoon. The question is, do we close the site a little early, around 3:30 or 4 pm to allow our agents a chance to get to their neighbor's pre-game event? (with the builder's permission of course)

I've worked alot of Super Bowl Sundays through the years, and I don't ever remember selling a home on the biggest football day in America. The game has gotten bigger in recent years. I suppose there are a few non-football fans out there, but are they actually going to go out and look at lots and new home plans on THE biggest day of America's great game ever? It is a necessary evil I suppose, and our answer is, we need to take turns with pulling the opportunity time on these so called, "tough days" to be onsite. (Note: it is easier to work when your favorite team didn't make the playoffs).

In my opinion, the real estate market doesn't allow us the luxury to be so kind and easy...we MUST be open, just in case there are baseball fans who are ready to take advantage of the low interest rates, the awesome value of your new home model, and for those who really want to see every available floor plan and homesite that you have to show, all the way up to kickoff...except when the Redskins return to THE game.

Prediction: Packers 34, Steelers 27

Dennis, Can't believe the Pats didn't make it as I thought they were the hottest twam in the NFL when the playoffs cme around. I'm hoping the 'Skins will turn it around eventually!

I actually like both teams when the 'Skins aren't playing...since my brother lives in Milwaukee, gotta pull for the cheeseheads.

I can't imagine working an open house on Super Bowl Sunday, but if I was, I would make sure there was a big screen TV and bring the party there. Might as well kill 2 birds with one stone - let me know how it goes next year :-)!
