Sled Dog Unless your a animal lover you may have not have even heard of the story of 100 Sled Dogs Slaughtered in British Columbia after speculated demand for Sled tours declined.

This morning I woke up still very disturbed by the story...and decided to find a Great Sled Dog Video on You Tube that would be a loving memorial to those innocent souls that lost their lives for no reason.

Within the hour that this post was written I have just received news from The Toronto Sun that that Saturday Feburary 5, 2011 there was a Memorial to the 100 Slaughtered Dogs

Hi there Lisa, we have this issue in our area too. We recently had a 'breeder' (called that loosely) that surrendered his 150 plus dogs to our nice but way too small (for this amount of animals) shelter. There were several starved dead on their chains, and he was feeding the puppies so he could sell them but not the adult dogs. AWFUL!

Thankfully the community found out about this particular case and rallied to get donations of blankets, food, outdoor shelters made (shout out to the students at Job Corps in Palmer).

Good News Update Since Surrender

As much as we cannot stand animal cruelty, we do appreciate you bringing it to the public view. Most of the time, as long as it is not in your face, no one thinks about it. Thank you for the post!

Jacque and Larry, I am very troubled by your story. I just posted it on my Facebook Page and asked it to be reposted in an effort to put this type of behavior in peoples faces so they know what to look for. I'm sure you've already done this too. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You bet Lisa, thank you too. My family stopped buying Christmas presents for each other and adopted the pound instead. So the joke in our family is that we buy each other dog toys as presents. We buy blankets, toys, treats, and some extra food so all the animals have at least one of each for Christmas. It is a nice lesson for the kiddos too.

We need to ask everyone to write their congressmen and women (better yet, write it and have them simply sign it and send it in themselves because it is easier for them) for stronger penalties, actual jail time served (not suspended sentences) and some real consequences. Canada at least has laws with teeth as opposed to the minimalistic 'animals are property' laws.

On my soapbox hear me roar! Keep up the vigil Lisa. We have a soft spot for animals and, of course, people that cannot help themselves out of situations as well. It is just unnerving how some people can do what they do and get away with it.
