Home Inspector Field Training -- Washington State Approved

By
Home Inspector with King of the House Home Inspection, Inc. Home Inspector Lic #207

In Washington State any potential new home inspector must not only complete 120-hours of Fundamentals of Home Inspection training but he or she must also complete 40-hours of field training.

The field training has certain requirements: The student must be on-site with a licensed and experienced inspector. The, minimum five, inspections must be of all elements of the house, not just a partial inspection. At the end of the process, the student must turn in a report on each house and that report must meet the state standards of practice.

Some potential inspectors get this training by paying experienced inspectors for ride-alongs. Other students obtain the training by taking a fundamentals course that includes the field training.

The next fundamentals of home inspection course at Bellingham Technical College will begin on February 28, 2011. Three weeks are dedicated to the fundamentals training. The final week is the field training. These are Washington state approved courses and successful completion of the courses qualifies a student to sit for the state licensing exams.

Anyone interested in the field training, or the full fundamentals of home inspection course, should call 360-752-8796. Any person interested in getting into either, or both, of these courses, should register soon.
