Reward for Hard Work

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Daytona Condo Realty, 386-405-4408

We tend to believe that hard work is rewarded. It is a very moral point of view, and who doesn’t want to feel moral?

With age I believe in it less than before. Is it about sweat and work?

No, it is not the amount of sweat, but the amount of good that comes along. It is about being good at what you do.

There are more than enough examples of hard work… and failed businesses. Hard work is easy. That’s what everyone can do. But it is not enough.

Sweat is a byproduct, not the goal. And so many of us confuse these two things.

If sweat counted, every roofer, ditch-digger, janitor, and short order cook would be rich.

Lee Trevino said... the harder I work, the luckier I get.  We have to put ourselves in the way of good things.  So get out there!

If hard work was the key to success then all the coal miners in the world would be millionaires!  This "hard work myth" is the biggest lie ever told regarding success, and it is a TRAP that enslaves millions into lives of endless toil.

HARD is NOT the issue!  Whether or not you provide people with what they want is the issue! This can be hard, or this can be easy, but either way, the difficulty factor is irrelevant -- all that matters is whether or not you are servicing people's wants and getting compensated for it.

It's a simple concept. Work smarter not harder. If you can do the job correctly the easy way then do it the easy way and leave yourself more time for everything else. Good post.

Jon, very profound.

Implementing best practices, including self management and management of others, will yield success.

As the saying goes, you have to spend money to make money - but there must be more to it than that.

But seriously, Jon, you are fortunate to have family members who excel in the technologies to make your efforts smarter - not just sweatier.

Less seriously, don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

OK - enough of this - I have work to do.

Jon - its not just working hard, its working hard at working smart, and it was Samuel Goldwyn who first said "The harder I work the luckier I get", more recently by Gary Player.

There is a big difference between working hard and working smart.  I know plenty of people that have worked hard for decades and have nothing to show for except worn out bodies.

I believe there's also an element of luck (or destiny, if you will).

Jon, we do have to work hard and mix that with smart thinking so the work is not so hard after a while.

Yes, hard work does not always make things magically happen.  There is an element of luck that can't be accounted for and that is usually the part that people hate.
