The Super Bowl is part of Sports History....and the people in Wisconsin will continue to celebrate the victory. The media will interview, the homecoming for the team....souvenir stands will continue to thrive for another week throughout the state...having popped up around gas stations everywhere with every kind of Packer apparel imaginable. People here in the Badger State take sports...more specifically...football....and the Packers...very seriously and in real estate...if you want no one to show up at an open house...schedule it during a Packer game. If you want to easily find a parking space at the mall...go during a Packer game...there are lots of rituals and favorite places to watch the game....a boom recently in TV purchases I am told...and an overall positive impact on the economy in this part of the country. The Lombardi trophy has come back to Wisconsin....and the cheers and tears will greet the team when they return to Green Bay.
As most people who know me at all know...sports is not the highlight of my life....I will be the hostess for the party...will attend one with an appetizer du jour but not really a fan.
I couldn't help but see a parallel in the spirit and determination of the Packer team and the Realtors and allied professionals who have not just survived, but thrived in this economy...this market....that have taken the challenge...learned to shift under less than perfect conditions...made lemonade out of lemons.
Our team was used to what some might find challenging weather...that was a walk in the ....Park, Stadium....Injuries to players may have been a discouragement to some teams...an excuse to lose....a reason not to stay in the game...the conditions just were not the same. That is not what happened...the injured players were disappointed that they could not take part in the game....they became cheerleaders. The team had to adapt to the players that were put in substitution of the regular players.....and they welcomed their participation. Players who may not otherwise have had a part in the game...got their minutes of fame on the field.
What did you learn from the Green Bay Packers about how to adjust to conditions...make the most of what there is....stay in the game....and be a champion ?
Congratulations Green Bay Packers...Vince Lombardi and my Dad were coaching from another level....they are proud of your resolve.....we all are...and what a great example you have given all of us...to be resolved...to be champions at whatever game in life we choose to tackle.
Hey Hansons All-You've got to come to New Jersey in 2014 (if you don't make it before)...while everybody's watching the Super Bowl live and in person we'll go shopping and have cocktails!
You bet Fernando,...their attitude and ability kept them on top,..
Hey Laura,...cocktails and shopping..I'm there !
It must have been a "hot time in the old town" last night Sally and David. I'm not a football fan, but can get into it once a year for the super bowl.
I am a Vikings fan but one has to admire the way Green Bay played. They played like champions and they won like champions.
Good morning and congratulations to all Packer fans. A very good game and the Packers deserved to win it.
Great analogy Sally. And good thing those Packers had the advantage and background of the Redskin coach Vince Lombardi!
Well and lovely stated you guys! It was such a great game and I too am sooo proud of them. We should all follow in their resolve and dignity of play!!
I tried to watch it, really I did. Just couldn't do it, can't figure out what all the fuss is about! I would definitely love to watch you parading around in one of those cheese heads, though!
"Winning isn't a sometimes thing, it's an all the time thing." - Vince Lombardi. This was the most special season I can ever remember for the Packers. And I can remember Paul Hornung days. Ted Thompson said it best, "It was like these guys didn't know they weren't supposed to succeed." I have to admit, after predicting they would be in the SB during pre-season and seeing the injuries mount up. I gave up any hope after the Detroit loss. And with the help of that miracle in NY by the Eagles... they still had a shot. I started believing again after the real good showing in NE and the trouncing they put on NY Giants. This was just an incredible journey. I also believe that with just Jermichael Finley off IR and playing in that game that it would have been no contest at all. Next year ought to be even better! It is a great lesson for all of us to take dominion over our realms just as they did this year. We can all go into the enemy's camp and take back that which was stolen from us and with inpugnity. Go PACKERS! World Champions!! Congratulations to all the fans everywhere and we are... everywhere.
Sally & David,
The Packers never trailed. They never lost focus. They weren't expected to even get to the Super Bowl, let alone win it! Good job, Packers!
Mike in Tucson
focus focus focus.....a lesson we all can learn from the frozen tundra country !
Sally - very fun game and it shows how important it is to keep strong and keep focused.
Good to see you Patty and John...focus and a positive attitude...what a combination !
I love the way you weave your life in and around real estate.
