Desperately Seeking Comfortable Hunting Shoes

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Charlemagne International Properties BRE# 01147470

I spent most of the daylight hours of the past weekend house hunting with three different clients.  We traipsed up long driveways, up stairs and back down again, we took our shoes off and put them back on time after time.  I learned the hard way, back in my rookie days, to forget about foot fashion when shopping for a home.  Leave the stilettos on the shelf and slip into a comfortable pair of flats or loafers.  Think slip on, slip off.

Whether you're a bike riding aficionado with heavy duty boots or a hip guy with high-tops. this is a gender free suggestion--remember, slip on, slip off.  Otherwise, you will spend time trying to remove the footwear and more time putting them back on your weary feet.  Shoe covers are usually provided, and sometimes a chair but a shoe horn--never.  You're on your own with the repeated off and on procedure.

Carry a spare pair in the trunk.  Midway through Saturday's showing a savvy and prepared house hunter made the switch from high fashion boots to high comfort flats.  The wrong shoe can derail the best laid house hunting plans.  Remember, slip on, slip off and eliminate sore feet and blisters from the house hunting agenda.

Oh so very true...and know what types of homes you are showing!   Today the heels will stay at home...I am showing acreage properties...and if they want to traipse through the field....well the heels just won't do!    LOL

The slip ons fall right in line with the need to have a 4 door car in this business. Just part of the required equipment to do the job right.

Oh, I have been into shoe comfort forever.  Forget the smart shoes, I want to feel I'm wearing slippers.

Norma,

I used to have a pair in the trunk, especially on development sites, and I had super comfortable high heels.  A

I think it is important to remind buyers to wear their comfortable shoes--otherwise, it can be a painful day for them--and I'm not talking about sticker shock.
