On the Harris County Appraisal District website, there is a lot of information about housing trends. I found an interesting list about the Houston Housing Market called The Silver Lining, which I thought I'd share with you.
The Silver Lining
• Houston’s December pricing continued its upswing while sales volume sustained the smallest reduction since June expiration of tax credit
• On a year-to-date basis, home sales are off only 5.7 percent from 2009 levels
• Positive sales activity was experienced in three of the five pricing segments, including,
– For the first time since May, the $150K to $250K market
– Below $80K increased 24.4 percent
– $500K and up increased 23.2 percent
• The lowest months of inventory in Houston since May 2010
And in case you're wondering, our property tax values for 2011 won't be mailed out until April, with a May 31 deadline for property tax protest. Closer to April, I'll give you a guideline to follow if you want to protest your taxes.
