I was at a meeting this morning at our local NAR and we were attending a class for short sales. it was a very interesting class and gave great information about how to approach short sales along with the proper protocol to successfully list a short sale.

During the class, we were asked what kind of marketing ideas we could think of to use this new tool to genrate business in this form? Agents had raised their hands and responses were of course, advertising in the paper, Place an Advertisement in the local home magazines ans such. After there had been many responses, I raised my hand and said "Blog it".

The instructor had said with much pep in her voice, " That is a great idea!. Maureen is the top blogger in our state and no one knows more about it than her." She then asked those who did not know what a blog was or how to blog please raise their hands. Well to my surprise, over 75% of the Agents raised their hands.  I was then asked if I would be kind enough to hold a class about blogging and especially about Active Rain. I accepted of course.

It made me feel so great to think that not only has Active Rain given me the chance and opportunity to provide a service to prospective buyers and sellers, but it has also given me the chance to provide a service to other local Agents.

I know to some it may seem petty to be excited or proud over something like that but to me it was like a HUGE milestone in my Real Estate career. I have gone from being the newbie learning the ropes in Real Estate to someone that can provide a service for our local agents in just a little over a year!

Before we all had left the class, I was approached by another Agent that asked me to be a guest speaker at another group/function about my blogging skills. This group is for professionals beyond Real Estate. I feel I have just walked threw a door into a whole new world of opportunities!
