Here in the Triangle area of North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill), there is a website operated by the local newspaper which offers some pretty interesting opportunities for the web savvy real estate professional. With a little investigation, no doubt you'll find similar local website communities in your local area that offer you an opportunity to prove to your little corner of the world that you're a SME. Are you a SME? More on the SME thing a little later!

Local Websites Provide Eyeballs Too!UNC Chapel Hill

I had heard about this Triangle area website, so I navigated over to Share.Triangle.com and found an interesting online opportunity to provide valuable information to my local community. Plus, it provides yet another great SEO opportunity to solidify our platform as SME's!

So What The Heck Is A SME?

Unless you have recently arrived from the corporate world, you're probably scratching your head wondering what the heck is a SME? A SME is a "Subject Matter Expert". I can assure you, AR is filled with many outstanding SME's! From real estate brokers, agents, website designers, SEO gurus, marketing consultants/coaches, great copywriters to home inspectors, virtual assistants, mortgage brokers, loan officers, home staggers and all the rest, Active Rain has a super collection of SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS! All of us should use what ever medium is at our disposal to validate our knowledge and experience in our core competency.

The Capital Building in RaleighGoing Local

Using Brad's excellent advice how to create an Optimized Profile For Search Engines and Site Visitors, I created myself an optimized profile and then began seeking other opportunities for off-page endorsements for our sites (blog and flagship website). Noticing no one had done so, I created a Real Estate Professionals group, and also wrote a news release to announce the formation of the new group to the site. Here I can also blog, and post pictures - all the usual stuff associated with a typical online social community. For the real estate professional, it's a marriage made in heaven!

Open Invitation to All Triangle Area Real Estate Professionals! (and anybody else too!)

For all you real estate professionals in the greater Triangle area, surf on over to Share.Triangle.com, create yourself an optimized profile, and join the group! It represents a great opportunity to create a platform to share your expertise plus pick up some SEO juice at the same time! If your city and business is a recipient of relo business from the Triangle, I suggest you run not walk to this site and create yourself a group for relocaters coming to your area!

As if this really works - THE SITE OFFERS POINTS TOO! Oh boy more late nights! Duke Chapel in Durham

To your continued success!

14 Comments on Do You Tap Into Local Online Resources?

Bobby - I checked out your new blog. I am not sure I quite understood - how is other local agents joining your group on-line community benefits you? And how does that go together with AR blog? Do you write the same things or different? I would like to know more about your idea. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment Faina. The new group and blog on the Share.Triangle site helps provide the local Triangle area real estate professionals yet another opportunity to create themselves a profile and blog to connect with prospects and for Google Juice. Yes it's a slight time commitment but well worth it.

Seems like a good idea but AR takes up so much time that I do not know if I can join any other groups.

Hi Gita- It's not really necessary to post there on a regular basis (or not at all). The main point is to create a profile there for another off-page endorsement for your primary website. It's all a part of your total "online presence".

Bobby - Your posts are consistently excellent. Best of success to you in your latest endeavor.

Good post and good ideas.   Until I was invited to AR, I had no clue of the number of free online local resources that were available to me.

Seth -I happen to believe it's best to consider what off-page endorsement sites offer you the most "bang" for your investment of time. If I were still in "the business", I'd definitely invest a little of my blogging time in local community blog sites. Many of the local newspapers offer similar community websites which allow you to create a profile and toss a "blog bone" their way every now and then!

Jill- Many local news papers offer blogs to individuals. You might want to investigate this portal: http://nocnews.blogspot.com/

Let me know if it is something worthwhile.

I did not realise that this was an option through local newspapers.  Thanks for getting me to explore this opportunity.  This is very worthwhile information.

Lola - Don't forget to check your local radio stations too! I discovered an online social community at the largest FM station in our area. It seems more legacy communication mediums are jumping on the digital technology bandwagon to discover the success of online social communities.
