Last Wednesday was the 1st game of the 2007 season for the Central Kitsap Junior High Cubs, both JV and Varsity squads.
My youngest son, Luke, is starting quarterback on the JV team. He has played the last two years on the local Silverdale Pee Wee Team and was excited to play for his school this year.
We played Marcus Whitman Junior High down in Port Orchard. We won the coin toss, and elected to receive. Our first touchdown came in the very first series, followed by another touchdown in the 1st quarter. Marcus Whitman wouldn't go down without a fight, and punched their way into the end zone twice, making it a tie game going into the 4th quarter.
With 3rd down, only two minutes left to go in the game, and the score still tied, our boys lined up on the 50 yard line. My son, Luke, dropped back and hurled a long shot 30+ yard pass and hit Josh Sontag right in the numbers. Josh ran the ball up to the 10 yard line. Two plays later, the Cubs scored the winning touchdown!
(Please forgive the obnoxious audio. One of the Dad's got a little excited!)
Just another slice of life here on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula in scenic Washington State!
