I know this is truly scary. They've gotten us all addicted to these devices and now they are being turned against our own right to privacy. It's a new world.
No matter how we're able to source data these days, it's always a best practice to have the information come freely and directly from the seller. As technology improves will we have less control over security? Of course. That's where setting proper expectations with our clients and being practical needs to take precedence.
That is such a great point Tammy! I didn't realize that until after I took a bunch of pictures on my iPhone and was able to see where they were taken around town!
It is pretty scary and unbelievable how times have changed!
Everytime you turn around there is someone watching us. Scary!
Great post and a nice reminder for my training today..thanks !!
Tammy,
Great post on some serious issues, but there is hope. Follow these instructions to turn it off on your phone and keep snapping pics in total privacy...

That's some scary stuff! What makes it even scarier is there are children that are doing this on a regular basis and thinking nothing of it. The world has definitely changed into a different place!
Awesome, Tammy. thanks for this valuable information. I usually take photos with my digital as well but there have been times when I've shot a couple quickies with my camera phone. I'll think twice now about doing that!
Wow, my Iphone camera has become my saving grace. Especially when my digital camera is lost or the battery is dead.
I will definitely keep this informaiton in mind the next time I use my iCamera.
One more thing to worry about if we let it........
personally, I am more concerned about the media, doing more and more scare the living daylight out of people reporting, than this really causing bad people to be worse than they already are.
I think that we need to be aware and coutious, and as such this is a good post, and we thank you for it.
Very scary. I started in photography when I was 4 so generally rach fofr my camera any way not I will make doubly sure.
Hi Tammy. That and tweeting where one is. Once in awhile I see a pic with "I'm here" at such and such place.
Hi Tammy, Yikes, I had no idea the technology was so advanced ! Is there a way to disable it ?
Yes, Brent #46 actually had a link on disabling this ability. Thanks for all the comments and glad this opened your eyes as well. I try to keep my geo mapping turned off but do need it from time to time. Better to enable it only when you need it to avoid this.
Thank you all for your comments!

Tammy,
There are so many implications of this information on pictures getting into the wrong hands. Smartphone companies really need to WARN consumers about this feature. While it is great on one hand, it is extremely dangerous with this information getting into the wrong hands.
Well today I learned something new I would never even have dreamed of. I am quite surprised but I guess now I think about it, why should we think otherwise. For the most I do use my camera, thank heavens!
That is super scary. I am definitely re-blogging this one.
I didn't know this. I never take photos with my phone anyways. The quality is just not there. Thanks.
Hmmmm...I wasn't aware of this before. Thanks for the information today.
