Below is a list showing the classification and annual tax rate per assessed $1,000 for Maui County, Hawaii properties and real estate.
Maui County includes the islands of Maui, Molokai and Lanai. Billing is twice a year, with payments due by February 20 and August 20.
- Homeowner $2.50
- Commercialized Residential $4.00
- Improved Residential $5.00
- Apartment $5.00
- Commercial $6.25
- Industrial $6.50
- Agricultural $5.00
- Conservation $5.00
- Hotel and Resort $8.30
- Unimproved Residential $6.25
- Time Share $14.00
Obviously the homeowner rate is the one to get, and you can qualify by living in the home and applying for the rate and exemption of $300,000 off the top.
These low property taxes make owning a Maui home a little more affordable.
