I'm tenacious and will do my best to make sure my clients see a property even if there are obstacles in the showing path. Yesterday, due to the failure of a security gate, we were not able to gain access to a gated property. By the time we discovered the gate was inoperable it was too late to call and cancel the appointment. A quick glance at my iPhone told me our clients were already in the vicinity after a 45 minute drive to see this property.
The home is located on a steep hillside, but I spotted a wall I was fairly certain my agile 30-something business partner could scale with relative ease. Once over the wall he could open the front door and let our clients and me enter through the small balcony off the living room. My partner says one of my strengths is problem solving (and sometimes endangering his life in the process), so I told him my plan, he smiled and was soon safely on the other side of the wall.
By the time our clients arrived a few minutes later the lights were on and my business partner was waiting on the hillside to guide them as they squeezed through the hedge, maneuverd a switchback trail up the hillside and entered the house by way of the living room balcony (only slightly above ground level).
Was it worth it? I'll be surprised if they do not write an offer, but one thing I know for certain is they will always remember the extraordinary measures we took to show it to them.
