Fayetteville NC real estate: NC names 11 counties for BRAC initiative

By
Real Estate Agent with KW Fayetteville

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue unveiled the All-American Defense Corridor (AADC) in a news conference yesterday.  The initiative essentially brands an 11 county region of North Carolina in a way similar to the Research Triangle Park. The 11 counties included are Cumberland, Bladen, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson and Scotland, but the AADC would also include area around Camp Lejeune, Wilmington's port, golf resorts in Pinehurst and North Carolina beaches.

Defense firms will be eligible for incentives, the same as other businesses have enjoyed. BRAC will increase Fort Bragg's empoyment to about 65,000 by 2011. As many as 40,000 residents will move into the area. The plan's goal is to maximize these numbers

This development supports my assertion that the Fayetteville NC real estate market is in for a major growth spurt and that Fayetteville may be the best real estate market in America. The facts will no doubt continue to develop and I'll post updates as they occur.

Hi Ron,
Yes, being in the Fayetteville area should be good for you and others in real estate.  You know Fort Bragg is not going away and in fact will be growing.

I'm glad you noticed my post, while I was reading the source articles I thought of you because of the reference to Camp Lejeune. I was going to send you a heads up on it. I hope it will benefit your market as well.

It's bittersweet for me really. I want the business, sure, but I'm afraid Fayetteville will lose even more of it's small town character. But...., its already happening and I'm here for the ride. Thanks for reading!

Hey Ron,

This is such exciting news for the area I lived in Fayetteville from 98-2000 I lived in Haymount. I loved this part of Fayetteville. I don't think the older part of Fayetteville will truly be affected. I see the growth in Hope Mills, Harnett County and Less County. I grew up in Sanford and we would do all of our shopping in Fayetteville. Fayetteville was such a Metropolis compared to Sanford.

Good Luck I think you guys down there are going to do very very well.

Good morning Ron,
I came to reciprocate but did not find a new post--a gentle nudge to get going with a new one.  :0)
