An ActiveRain Epiphany...

Mortgage and Lending with Apex Home Loans NMLS #369577

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl......

For those of you that know me I apologize for being absent for so long. As the mortgage industry changed the last few years I found myself pulling away from originating loans. I grew a horrible distaste in my mouth from the whole damn mortgage / real estate. Point your finger all you want, there were some top notch, highly respected peeps that went down side by side with housing values. I've had a realization in the past year or so, even more in the past six months as I grow my social media platforms.

The foundations of successful blogging such as posting high quality content, engagement, finding your audience, keywords and keyword placement, how to title a blog... the real foundations I learned here on Active Rain. I am not going to refer any one person by name. The ones around when I started know who I am talking about. Many are no longer blogging. Some have even passed away. There was some really good bloggers and there were some really close bonds formed. It was a very tight group, everyone learning new social media techniques and engaging with one another. There were true blogging artists that not only nailed the content, they displayed an eye for layout and design as well and understood where and when to include a link. They became masters of engaging and ambassadors of transparency. They "got it".

What I learned in days past from ActiveRain.com were the basics. May sound trivial but trust me it is very relevant. I have spent the past five months or so engaging on @twitter. I have also been very active on Linkedin the last 3+ years. The basics I learned over the past years blogging on ActiveRain.com has helped me understand other platforms much more effectively today. Understanding other platforms is very hard to do, please do not think otherwise. Transparency is the foundation of what it is all about. Some get it and some never do. I have been attending as many social media seminars and webinars as I can lately. I have seen some real rockstars that I could legitimately call "Expert". (I really do hate that word).... They "get it".

Where am I going with all of this? I read a blog tonight that knocked my socks off. No kidding. It may have been one of the best posts I have ever read. I wanted to share this with all my ActiveRain buds from way back.

Read this blog. I promise you will feel the same way as I did. -> "Hashing it Out" by Robert Ortiz - Click Here

Lewis,

Wow, thanks for sharing.  I echo what you said but the reverse for me.  I learned most of my social media outside of ActiveRain.  I only found ActiveRain last month it sure would have shortened my learning curve if I would have found it sooner.  By no means do I have it all figured out but I do understand what you are saying about it being much easier to move from platform to platform.

Thanks for sharing.
