10 Comments on Condos and Condops on Upper Broadway on The Upper West Side
Ok, I would be happy living in any of these. How lovely.
You can imagine my wonder when you realize that there are no buildings in DC higher than the Capitol Building, that's about 12-14 stories max.
There are some higher ones in the suburbs in MD and VA, but height doesn't dominate here. There are some condo buildings in Arlington that overlook the Potomac River and have lovely views of the Capitol and Monuments.
New York City they are not.
Beautiful architecture in the best city in the world! By the way, if you know of anyone looking to move to the Sunshine State, refer them to me and I will gladly pay a 30% referral fee on any resulting closed transaction.
Mitchell, great photos. A question: what does a concierge do for people in the building? I read one of your previous blogs that mentioned a concierge, so am curious!
Hi Laurie,
The concierge sits behind a console. They are there 24 hours. They have keys, they take packages, deliveries, dry cleaning they ring you when a guest or delivery arrives. You can have them do many things. You call them when something is not working. They will get a porter or handyman etc.
The doorman on the other hand stands at the front door and greets people, gets you a cab, helps you out of a cab or car with your packages or luggage.
In my building they no longer open the door since we upgraded to electric automatic doors. They wave and say hello and welcome home. After midnight in my building the doorman leave. The front door is locked. The concierge buzzes you in from his desk. If someone is a visitor they call the resident and announce the visitor.
My day concierge Vinnie. He is on duty from 7:30 am until 4pm. Then there is a concierge from 4pm to midnight and another one comes on from midnight until 7:30 am.
Thanks Mitchell for the great photos... and, yes, I miss Zabar's and H&H bagels alot! I almost always make a trip to the Upper West Side when I'm in town to get my fix... nobody does bagels like H&H.
Those are terrific photos of the west side. Westchester just has a very few high rise buildings..and they aren't really that high when compared to Manhattan...Great review....
Mitchell.. I love reading and viewing all the different styles of condos in NYC ;and you do it so well..Thanks for the info

Mitchell.. Not working in a city (frankly I think NYC is the ONLY true city on the east coast), I've never heard of simplexes. Yes, I've heard of duplexes, co-ops, and penthouses. What is a simplex?
Valerie, A simplex is opposite of a duplex, the entire apartment is in the same floor.
