feng shuiIs all the good energy flowing down the staircase and out the front door?  I have heard this so many times from home buyers and sellers.  I did some research years ago about the Feng Shui of a home's staircase. 

 

I found that if your staircase ends directly in front of a door, the "chi" or positive energy can run right out the door.  Feng Shui experts claim that this can be the reason that a family finds it difficult to accumulate wealth.

 

I began to notice that many of the short sales and REO properties we looked at had staircases that were straight up and ran right out the front door.

 

Of course, you can't rearrange your staircase, but there are some things you can do to keep the "chi" fromfeng shui running out the door. 

 

You can hang mirrors on either side of the door to make the chi go back in the house. Hanging a wind-chime between the bottom of the staircase and the front door also helps to re-direct the chi.  Other recommendations include potted (living) plants or a heavy statue at the base of the stairs and even a screen somewhere at the base of the stairs.

 

Additionally, stairs should be kept clean and well lit and you should not clutter the space under the staircase.

 

I am always interested in things that make a home feel happy.  When I enter a home, I always get some type of feeling whether it be peaceful or chaos.  If simple tips from the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui helps make a happy home, I am all for it!

 

There is a great paperback book called "101 Feng Shui Tips For Your Home by Richard Webster" which can be bought through amazon.com for only $9.36.  I found this to be a great - quick reference guide  for the Feng Shui novice like me.

I studied Fung Shuy for a house I listed last year and tried every trick I could dig up.  I had offers before the house was available.  I think fung shuy has a lot of really great principles.

You never know how someone will be "looking at a home" and sizing it all up.  Since I don't use any special teaching or method it's odd but I understand that people that do take it VERY seriously.
