How you Get Mold in Your home - And where it comes fromleaks lead to mold

Mold can grow anywhere, most prominently on plants, vegetables, in soil, and most unfortunately, in your home.

Mold growth in your home can lead to anything from everyday health problems to even death.

Many think they don't have any mold in their home and think they have nothing to worry about. But you may be seriously wrong about that. Almost everybody has some form of mold growing in their home, even new homes. The newer homes may even have more if they were built during wet seasons and moisture has been sealed up inside the home. It is important to watch for signs of mold growth and for conditions in which mold can grow.

Mold starts when mold spores that are floating in the air land on water. Water from a leak, condensation or standing water somewhere in your home can cause these spores to go wild. No matter what season it is, there can be spores and therefore mold can grow. Heat from the summer months and moisture can cause the growth of mold to intensify. Mold growth is prominent in bathrooms and kitchens where humidity and water come into place, but it is important to know that mold can grow anywhere.

leaking faucets causes moldCleaning up certain spills, or drying where a water or leak has occurred carefully can help alleviate mold from growing. Carpet padding and moist areas that don't see much light are perfect breeding grounds for mold to grow. You also need to pay close attention to leaving damp towels lying around or dishes too long in the sink.

Once you have a mold problem, there are very few ways to get rid of it completely on your own. You need to start with fixing leaks, cleaning and disinfecting the area. If it is not done properly or you don’t notice the problem until it’s too late, it may be time to call in a certified mold expert. Only with proper testing can the situation be analyzed and cleaned up.

Deny, Deny, Deny. Home owners will deny they have a problem, while blowing their nose, right in front of you. They'll usually deny, or not recognise the everyday water sources in their home. What they need to deny is mold the water.

Deny mold the water to grow and propigate. Thats all. (But it's not easy.)

A high level of mold can act as a trigger for a number of medical ailments.  If you believe your home may have a mold problem, it is best to talk to a professional about having a mold test / mold inspection.
