Spring Forward: March 13th
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead ONE HOUR on Sunday, March 13th.
Gaining an hour of daylight is great news, but losing an hour of sleep...well, the jury is still out on that one! In my house, getting your EIGHT hours of sleep is a BIG deal!
So, why do we "SPRING FORWARD" every year? Why not maintain STANDARD time all year 'round? Here are some of the suggested benefits of DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME:
- Daylight is better used in the evenings when we are awake and participating in activities with family and friends (vs. mornings when we are typically sleeping anyway)
- Reduced road accidents and injuries (because we can better see where we are going and what's in our way)
- Less "artificial" light is needed for evening activities because we have natural light
OK, so there are some GOOD reasons for daylight savings time. I'll get my hour back in the fall! :-)
