We are fortunate to have on our team someone who spent years leading Human Resources for United Airlines, who was responsible for hiring more than 10,000 pilots during his career. Needless to say, his name rose quickly to the top of the list for "who should design our recruiting process".
Here is the high level view of how the process operates once we have a candidate in the funnel (see previous blog on Recruiting).
Step 1: Phone interview (about 30 minutes) between candidate and recruiter. Decision at end of call as to whether an in person interview is warranted.
Step 2: Have candidate complete the DISC personality profile, take the online real estate simulator and have and in person interview with candidate, recruiter and Market Center Team Leader (A Keller Williams term). Decision at the end of the interview as to whether the candidate is suitable for:
A. The Marriott Group at Keller Williams Realty Professional Partners
B. Keller Williams Realty Professional Partners as an individual agent
C. Potential candidate for another Keller Williams Market Center
D. Not a good fit for Keller Williams
Step 3: For those candidates that appear suited for The Marriott Group at Keller Williams Realty Professional Partners, conduct a panel interview with the Director of Associate Development (AKA Lead Buyer Specialist AKA "Dad") and one of the Rainmaker Team Leaders (me!).
Step 4: If all goes well in Step 3, then the candidate meets with Tony to review the Buyer Associate Agreement and for the final decision by the candidate and Tony as to whether it's a good fit. If so - sign the contract!
We have a detailed Buyer Associate Agreement that spells out the commitments both parties are making. The Buyer Associate is an Independent Contractor, so we can't "make" them do anything unless we want Uncle Sam telling us that they are, after all, an employee. The only options are for both parties to honor their commitments to each other, or to part ways (hopefully amicably).
I would be interested to hear from others in the Active Rain community as to your recruiting process, and if you care to share, what you consider the key elements to cover in a Buyer Associate agreement.

Hi Suzanne,
Is this KW process company wide, local or just your company/team?
Thanks, Doreen
