Sun City Center's South Bay Hospital is wanting to move to the Big Bend Road location in Riverview. I is unable to expand at it's current location and it needs to expand. This poses a problem for the residents in Sun City Center. Right now there is a free transport service to the hospital with the local volunteer emergency squad, however they don't leave Sun City Center so this free service would no longer be available.
They do plan to leave the emergency room and continue to have rehab services along with diagnostic services. It will be interesting to see how this all works out. We do need a bigger hospital and Riverview sure could use a hospital, however Sun City Center losing their hospital won't be a good thing at all. Why can't we have both??
