The 26th annual ArtiGras Festival is set for February 19 thru February 21st 2011. Listed as one of the top 50 festivals in the country, ArtiGras 2011 is expecting more than 300 artist and 150,000 guest over the three-day holiday weekend. Here is what to expect this year:
Artist Demonstration Stage - Learn how artists apply their outstanding skills to create art in various media throughout the festival. Demonstrations are on the hour every day with artists from the Lighthouse ArtsCenter and participating ArtiGras artists from around the country. Sponsored by Lang Realty and WJNO 1290.
ArtiKids Area - This section is dedicated specifically to young artists who are invited to participate in a wide selection of interactive art activities made from recycled materials. Activities are provided by Resource Depot, Lighthouse Center for the Arts and the Armory Arts Center. In addition, kids can pick a square on the Art Wall or create "ArtiTown" out of recycled boxes, sponsored by Southern Waste Systems and Mia 92.1.
Youth Art Competition Gallery - Enjoy the amazing talents of local young artists from area schools - grades K-12. Over 200 pieces were submitted to the contest and will be on display all weekend. Winners will be announced live on the Main Stage at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 19th. Winning schools receive prize money to purchase art supplies and winning students have their artwork framed courtesy of Fastframe.
Tiny Treasures Children's Art Boutique - Kids will love the chance to purchase their very own fine art donated by exhibiting artists. No adults allowed! Visit this children's-only tent inside the ArtiKids area. Proceeds benefit the Quantum House. Sponsored by WQOL.
Beer Garden - Relax in the shade of the Buzz 103.1 Beer Garden where you can enjoy a Budweiser Draught under the umbrellas while listening to live entertainment.
Comfort Zone - Re-Energize in the shade of the relaxing Comfort Zone sponsored by Kool 105.5 and Florida Power & Light.
Art Pick Up - No need to carry those large purchases through the crowds back to your car! Let us meet you at the Art Pick Up gate where will be personally load it into your car for you. For more information, ask the artist from whom you purchased your artwork. Sponsored by WZZR Real Radio.
Artivity Avenue - The newest creation for Adults to "find their artist within" at ArtiGras. Come take a painting class with Alla Prima while enjoying complimentary wine and cheese.
