Seattle's Neighbors Appreciation Day-The Saturday before Valentines Day

Today, February 12, 2011, will mark the 17thyearly festivity of Neighbor Appreciation Day. The beginning can be traced back to 1995 when Phinney Ridge community leader Judith Wood suggested the City designate a special day to celebrate all the good things we have around us and to reinforce our bonds to each other.  The Mayor at that time was Norm Rice he proclaimed the Saturday before Valentines Day as "Neighbor Appreciation day!"
