Located in Island County Washington, Whidbey Island is well known for its luxurious bed & breakfasts and beautiful state parks.  Its laid-back atmosphere is enhanced by narrow country roads, small towns and villages, easily accessible outdoor activities, and scenic views of Puget Sound.  Naval Air Station Whidbey operating near Oak Harbor continues a historic connection with the military communities since the days of Fort Casey and Fort Ebey.

Whidbey Island includes several cities and towns such as Clinton, Coupeville, Freeland, Greenbank. Langley, and Oak Harbor.  It is a transportation hub to enjoyable destinations with excellent ferry connections to Seattle, the Olympic Peninsula and the Olympic Mountains.  A drive northward takes you across the dramatic Deception Pass bridge onto Fidalgo Island and on towards the city of Anacortes

Hi Debi,
This sounds like a lovely area.  Could you share some photos?

Tom - Glad to read that you enjoyed your visit here and I'd agree: It's incredible... the old saying is true... You never know what you've got 'till it's gone... I missed the Mountain when we lived in NC... I couldn't navigate for anything...  At least here I know which way is East!

Kelly - There little B&B's everywhere!  I love the ones in the Skagit Valley, in the Spring among the tulip fields it's quite the feast for the eyes

Cynthia - I've got to do some digging for photos, but I'll find 'em... The area on the San Juan's are one of the states best kept secrets

Thanks all for visiting!

Debi, the sunsets in the San Juan Islands rival the best we have to offer in Tucson, AZ.  My Darlin' and I spent a week there in July 2005 for our anniversary, and can't wait to come back.

Whidbey Island is beautiful! We used to go there several times in the summer as craftspeople to sell our wares at the summer craft fairs in Langley and  Coupleville.  Our kids loved riding on the ferry to the island. We would also camp and explore the area. It is truly an enchanting place.
