The power of love...I've always heard that love makes the world go round.  And, on February 14th, Valentine's Day, "love" will be expressed abundantly.

 

Valentine's dayThe history of Valentine's Day is known by all.... children and adults.  We know that Valentine's Day is a day on which love is expressed for each other by giving flowers, candy and beautiful Valentine cards.  But, are we teaching our children about genuine love and where it comes from?

 

 

 

Bob Lively writes, "All genuine love comes directly from God and therefore does not originate with us, but rather only comes through us as a heaven-sent force for good. Because love originates with God, love then is invariably mysterious and at the same time most powerful."

Rebecca, I have often wondered why it is that we only celebrate one day,  (two if you include Sweetest Day) showing our love for the person we love the most.  I love the John 3:16 quote

Hi Rebecca,

I never have seen "VALENTINE" like that with John 3:16. That's great. You are absolutely correct Love comes from God, We cannot love God, but that He first loved us. We also could not save ourselves, but it is He who first saved us. He provides us salvation, we cannot earn it, but can only learn to accept His Love and Salvation by being drawn to Him by His Holy Spirit.

My minster retired late last year after nearly 30 years.  While I admit I was ready for a change I miss so much the last thing he said to us each week... "Spend some times with you family and tell them you love them".  It's a message that will be with me forever.  So in fact, yes, I do remember to say I love you those other 364 days of the year.
