All this week we have requested that people drop off their non-perishable food items for our "Put your Heart into it"campaign for our local Gananoque Food Bank.
And today, with the sun shining brightly, my lovely husband and I went door to door asking for whatever food items that could be spared.
It was such fun! Out of all the homes we visited, only one person said no! I'll say no more.
I got quite a kick out of several elderly men who were frightened that they might give us something that their wife would need for supper tonite! I gave them my cell number and told them to call me if their wife needed something, lol
I was introduced to many beautiful dogs that I'd not met before and I was able to scritch a few kitties too.
An extra bonus was visiting with some of my former clients and was able to tour a few homes to see the new and improved renos that have taken place.
It was quite the experience and seeing my kind neighbours open their hearts and their cupboards was quite touching. Many asked if they could also provide us with cash!!! To this I said no but they could send a cheque to The Gananoque Food Bank if they liked.
All in all, it was a success and we could get no more food into our truck.
Thank you people of Gananoque - you're generous souls!
