Great post, Eric--I would trust you to help me if I were in this situation!
Cheers,

Robin, Thanks!
Howdy and evening to you Eric
Eric, there in Michigan, do folks that are looking at their home being Foreclosed on, and then sale their home for less than that is owed to the Bank. Do they have to pay the difference?
This here blog post has some mighty fine info for folks about what they can do.
Have a good one
Dale in New Hampshire
Dale, there's always the possiblity of the bank coming back at a later time and suing for the difference, yes. BUT, I've yet to hear that this has happened to anyone. Doing a Short Sale lessens that Difference you asked about, so if they end up coming back after them, it won't be for as much. Also, when negotiating a Short Sale, we can have the Difference completely removed, substantially reduced, paid off at a lower amount or possibly taken on as an unsecured loan after the home is sold. A Short Sale is much better than a Foreclosure in almost every circumstance.
Thanks for the question, Dale, and allowing me to explain a little more.
