Recruiting?

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax Marketing Specialists

Sitting here trying to warm up as we are having a chilly Florida morning....sorry to my friends that live where there is white stuff outside :)

There has been recent chatter about the line between recruiting and stealing of agents.  Curious as to what your thoughts are on this.  Do the larger companies that spend time / money on recruiting cross the line?  A broker was quoted in an article as stating that they felt it was not recruiting but stealing of agents because the broker had spent so much on grooming and teaching agents to then have them "stolen" by larger compaines that focus on recruiting.

My thoughts are this.... if a real estate agent is happy where they are it won't matter what advertising they see or what phone call / email they get trying to recruit them.   But just like any other profession - if someone is unhappy in their current situation they will explore other options and those companies who name are always out there will likely be one of the first companies looked at.

Just my Monday thought as I get geared up and wonder what my fellow agents thoughts are.....

Let's make it a great week for all.

Hi Bonnie,

As a recruiter I agree with your posting.  Yes, of course we would like to think that once we hire a person that no other real estate company would attempt to recruit or attract our agents away but that is just not reality.  Every company is trying to gain market share and have the best agents around.  As you stated, an Agent will stay or go with a company where they feel they will receive the best support to help them nuture and grow their career as a real estate sales professional.

FACT: Agents rarely remain with one real estate company forever.  Here is a sample timeline:

The first company an agent chooses is one they feel will get them the best training and support. The second company is typically the one where they feel they can grow and earn more money, and the third company (and most often the final company) is generally one where the agent feels most comfortable and will retire with their business.

While this is not always the case it is for the majority of agents out there.  So if a Broker, Manager or Owner is concerned about the health of their organization they may want to look at the timeline of affiliation within their agent pool and put into place efforts to keep their talent longer.
