Paper-less Challenge An Eco Smart Idea Comes of Age
The recent paperless challenge thrown down by ActiveRain could come at a better time for me. I was already in the throws of getting the two boards I serve on to at least notice the amount of paper wasted in our monthly meetings. Both the Realtors Assoc. of York & Adams Counties and the Rick & Sally Myers Animal Shelter of Adams County have both agreed to be more conscious of the amount of paper waste generated.. We have always had a seemingly endless supply of paper products at our disposal. We all need to adapt an Eco Smart lifestyle.
This project actually started back in November when I purchased my Kindle. It took me a while to get used to the idea of reading a book without the tactile portion of reading book, however now I must admit I don't think I could read a "old school" at this point. The thing that I am really surprised at with the kindle is the amount of reading I am doing these days. My eyes no longer get tired so quickly, the back lighting is wonderful. I get the WSJ delivered, order books and generate no paper receipts in the process, and of course there are no paper pages. It is a win win for the reader and the forest.
Downloaded and use the app Scanpro on my droid, it is a great document scanner that turns the phone into a document scanner that converts scans into JPEG or PDF. This app scans everything from documents to receipts. The quality is great, clear and it is compatible with Dropbox, Evernote, Goggles and many more. It basically turns your phone into a high end scanner that is always with you.
Just signed up for Docusign, well I have to admit that this one is way overdue, where have I have been on this task. No explanation here as I am probably the last Realtor to get it.
Utilize Internet flyer companies such as Zip Your Flyer. These companies take your listing, open house information and create beautiful flyers that got out a geographic area of your choice to reach Realtors that are in your sphere of influence. I like this system as not only does it not use paper, it is easy and takes little to no time at all.
Collecting business cards is real problem. This is an area that the American business world has yet to really make the jump to paperless. Paper business cards are so ingrained in our business society that I believe it will be hard to break the cycle. I am utilizing an app called MyCard which displays all your contact information in QR code fashion. Clients can just scan the code from your phone display and have it in their contact data. It is a paperless way of sharing communication information.
This is just the beginning.....
