Give Me A True Romantic On Valentine's Day

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

A true romantic knows that a Valentine's Day to remember is more than a box of chocolates and flowers.  It's more than buying a card at Hallmark.  I, for one, believe that dinner at an expensive restaurant on Valentine's Day is for amateurs.   Anyone with a credit card, and the phone skills to make a reservation, can take you to dinner.

I find creativity to be far more impressive, and sexy, when it comes to this holiday.

valentines day

It really is the thought that counts.

What's the most romantic, thoughtful gift you have received or given for Valentine's Day?

Sharon,

What a wonderful expression of what Valentine's day is about.  We stopped at the store to pick up eggs this afternoon, and there were lines of sheepish folk buying flowers, last minute.  It is not about the flowers or the  dinner as you mentioned, but about caring in some special and original way.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts. A

One bouquet of flowers...$42.00

One bottle of champagne...$24.00

Two bears with a picnic table AND a credit card...priceless!

Hope your Valentine's Day was fun and romantic!

Believe it or not, there was only one Valentine's Day that someone did something very special for me when I lived in NYC.................but trust me, you don't want the details Sharon.

Sharon, I would tell you...but it wouldn't be professional to print it! ;-)

And I bet you had a romantic day, as well!

Don't you love that heart tree?

Linda:  How romantic...that is one lucky girl to have a guy going to that much trouble for Valentine's Day.  You must have taught him well!

Pam:  That is different, and such a great way to make a memorable Valentine's Day.

Ellen:  Oh that is so sweet! It makes the card even more special!

Bob:  One thing there is no shortage of here on AR is great ideas and advice for any situation.  You did well!

Lou:  Being with each other is what really counts.

Alexandra:  I like your description of "sheepish" because you know they were just grabbing something out of obligation.  I don't want a "have to" gift.

Sharon, maybe dinner or flowers do not sound that romantic, but if you don't really celebrate that day(we celebrate 8th of March - International Womens Day), than flowers on weekend and invitation for coffee and tiramisu are nice and unexpected ;-) Ether my husband is getting older and more romantic or more that 15 years in this country changing his Holiday preferences LOL

John:  Very funny!  Thanks!  My husband and I don't really celebrate the holiday but he did something very romantic for me just a few days before.  We took our first ever separate vacation last week.  He went to the Caribbean to visit my daughter who currently lives on a sail boat and I went to visit my parents in Florida.  We had no communication for the week, except a couple of text messages.  He posted this picture on facebook:

Roger:   Really?  Sounds very naughty... I love it!

Kathleen:  You too?  Naughty like Roger!  Good for you!  I do love that tree and I'm so happy Steve Loynd told me where it was so I could photograph it.

Joshua:  The bears were photographed in Nova Scotia, but the tree location is in New Hampshire.  Steve Loynd can tell you exactly where it is if you ever want to visit.  It is a beautiful location!

Anna:  We don't celebrate Valentine's Day...we prefer surprises during the year when they aren't expected.  Sounds like your husband is doing ok in the romance department!

I coudn't agree more with you. Yesterday, I made my son his request of a homemade chicken soup and he saved his money and bought me at school a chocolate rose! "Take that, dad"!... is what he told my husband! Well, dad didn't top it! lol

My husband doesn't do romantic or thoughtful very well.  But considering all of his other wonderful qualities along with putting up with me for 36.5 years, I think I'll keep him anyway!

Sharon---This picture has it all, romance, comedy, cute animals.  Love the heart shaped tree.  Love the whole thing!!  However, I think they should be sitting on the same side of the table!

Kathy:  It was so romantic!  We have been away from each other before - I've gone to visit my parents and he has gone on business trips.  We have always kept in touch by phone while away though.  This was the first time in 32 yrs. that we went a week without speaking.  When I saw the picture, I was so touched.

Pat:  I may be good at talking sellers into making changes that they really don't want to make, but convincing a bear to change seats at a picnic table is beyond even my abilities, LOL!  It was amazing enough just to see the two bears sitting at the picnic table in the first place!

Valerie:  Thanks!  I had fun combining these two favorite photos!  The only thing "staged" is the addition of the champagne and flowers.
