It's mid February and the real estate market in Iowa City is heating up. So much so that I figure it's time I started up my weekly market updates again. I ran into someone yesterday who was totally surprised at the idea that spring has actually sprung in the real estate market in Iowa City. He's thinking of listing his house in spring. I told him it's already here and he should get moving! I can talk all day long of course, but it's better if I back that statement up with data. Hence my idea to start up the weekly market updates again.

55 Homes Under Contract
3 Homes Sold week ending February 12, 2011

My last weekly update was December 20, 2010. At that time there were 427 homes on the market and 29 homes under contract. It's only mid February and the number of homes under contract has increased to 55 homes under contract. Data is boring so I've put it in a graphic to pep it up a bit. February may not necessarily be a big month for closings, but over the coming weeks we should see a sharp rise in homes under contract. Homes under contract means home sales down the line...  Is your home on the market yet?
