PUTTING REAL ESTATE ASIDE FOR A MOMENT... READ ABOUT WHAT MINOT, ND WENT THROUGH....

Maybe we should make North Dakota the capitol of the USA.
This text is from a county emergency manager in Minot, North Dakota

Minot Daily News
WEATHER BULLETIN Up here in the Northern part of North Dakota we just recovered from a Historic event --- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 25' of snow and winds to 50 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10 ' s of thousands.

FYI:

Obama did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor ' s did not blame Obama or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Obama or anyone else either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or even report on this category 5
   snow storm.

  Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.
No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.
No one looted.
Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.
Nobody expected the government to do anything either.
No Larry King, No Bill O ' Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.
No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand,  No Brad Pitts, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.
Sent out caravans of SUV 's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.
The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ' t ask for a penny.
Local restaurants made food, and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snow bound families..
Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.
We put on an extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die".
We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for ' sittin at home ' checks

Even though a  Category 5 blizzard of this scale is not usual, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

I hope this gets passed on.
Maybe .....
SOME people will get the message ......
The world does not owe you a bailout!!!!

Thanks for thinking about me Lauren, that would warm any mans heart! While we have had a really tough winter it has not been as bad as some of those pictures indicate. A couple of those pictures have been in the Minot Daily news but only in an effort to assure people that some of them are inaccurate. Seems a few people up here are looking for sympathy or are trying to empress someone as to how hardy of a lot we are.

Again while it has not been as bad as some of those pictures indicate I will say that it has been a heck of a winter. Thanks to everyone for their concern, it must be that love that is starting to warm things up here in North Dakota.

Those are some amazing pictures and a great story of people that can take care of themselves.  We could use more of this in our country.

Lauren - thanks for sharing those thoughts. I have seen some of those photos and they are amazing.  Even more amazing is how the residents seem to have chosen to take care of the situation.  I hope they get a slow, steady melt.

Lauren that is how it should be... Though the government should be more prepared to help their own, instead of being so quick to send relief to other countries....But with working honest people helping eachother out, it proves our lack of need for government, or their assistance... Maybe North Dakota should be our Nations Capital.

Lauren,

I tried to re-blog this to get the word out and credit you for doing such an excellent job to draw attention to the American people but re-blogging was diabled so I did suggest it. Since I couldn't re-blog, I wanted you to know that my intro to your BLOG was going to say, "Lauren Selinsky from Aliso Viejo, CA is not just an ordinary REALTOR. She's extraordinary. Lauren is a woman with a heart. She's a woman in the know and someone who got my attention because she wants the world to know that "Maybe we should make North Dakota the capitol of the U.S...." and I couldn't agree more.

My heart goes out to the people North Dakota and I have their deepest respect. The photos are a jaw dropper and the words cuts through you like a knife.

Thank you Lauren.

Patricia~ you are too kind... It wasn't my idea, but I too wanted to bring notice to what has happened in ND~ and quite amazed how they all came together with kindness, as a neighbor, friends and an open heart. Amazing what we can do when we unite~

I have all the buttons on settings to allow you to RE-BLOG>> I talked to Kelly at AR and she is checking into it... She said they have been having issues...

Thank you again... for your kind words... you could copy and paste ;)
