Who has the money to buy a 4 acre apartment complex, tear it down, & then sit on it for 4 years? Answer: Post Properties, Inc. from Dallas (eww, Dallas). I've driven by the old Southridge apartment tract for years now wondering what the hell they were going to do with it, & when the hell they were going to do it. Well, it seems the stars have aligned & ground breaking is going to be taking place next month on the 300 apartment unit/8500 sf retail complex called Post South Lamar (I confess, when I first heard the name I wondered "does 'Post South Lamar' truly signify the end of South Lamar as I know it?" But I digress...) I kinda hope they have better luck attracting retail tenants than The Cole (worst website music ever, by the way)...sure seems like the Spicy Pickle is lonely over there, doesn't it? And with the news of 300 more apartment units coming on line starting in 2012, I fear for even more traffic on our beloved bumper-to-bumper S Lamar...oh, well, at least we still have S 1st.
