As a child I grew up calling it Fall...but the original description is Autumn. Whatever it's called though I LOVE this time of the year...my very favorite season, even as a child. Autumn/Fall not only reminds me of changing of the season, and the beauty that come with it, but it also reminds of back to school time, county fair time, ferris wheels, Harvest Festivals, and the like.
Several years ago we had the pleasure of taking a 2 week vacation to New York and the New England states...we rented a car and drove from Boston to Niagara Falls...it was the first week of Autumn/Fall and the colors were spectacular! I had never been to this part of the country and it was amazing to see God's handiwork on display!
According to Wikipedia: Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter. The start of autumn is generally considered to be September 21. The word 'autumn' is derived from the French word automne, and has been used as a word for a season since the 16th century. The North American name for the season, 'fall', probably derived as a contraction of the phrase "fall of the leaves", and since became used interchangeably. Astronomically, some Western countries consider Autumn to begin with the September equinox (around September 23).
