While Obama continues to call government spending an INVESTMENT; another politician * from a NON-NASCAR track state * is suggesting that the government CUT their INVESTMENT in advertising on NASCAR cars.
The US military has a LONG history of advertising partnerships with NASCAR * the US ARMY car has been around for years with various drivers and teams. There is always a military presence at races as track owners often provide FREE tickets if they are in uniform

Michael * they want to trim MILITARY BAND costs also....yet they do a FLY OVER of the Super Bowl WITH THE DONE closed....NASCAR is a RECRUITING BONANZA * stop the brick and morter recruiting offices and just follow NASCAR races!!!

I contend that Congress should START with their own budget. Cut the crap in congress. A US Senator gets around $5M a year for their office. 100 x $5M= $500M. A Rep. gets around $2M per year. 435 x $2M= $870M. $500 + $870M= %1.4B. Do it now!

Peanuts to the rest of the budget. At least the military gets to advertise. At most colleges they are given no help to recruit. Seems like the 60's again. The elite send their sons and daughters to college, the poor to war.

It's called a VOLUNTEER ARMY which is WHY the military is using NASCAR to connect with young people...Close up bricks and mortar buildings (which are in the less desirable areas of town anyway) and use Fb, NASCAR and social networking to get volunteer sign-ups!

I suspect that Ryan Newman's #39 or Jr's #88 crossing the finish line FIRST on Sunday will be the BEST advertisement they can have for ANY AMOUNT * NASCAR is very aware of the political climate as are the teams.
Fox announcers last week mentioned AZ's John Kyl's retirement and how he has been a friend to NASCAR.
