The Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry Brigade is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. I've heard that it's the largest deployment since the Korean War. In true Oklahoma fashion a very patriotic Sooner Send Off has been planned and will even be televised later today. As a former military dependant and friend of one of the guardsmen leaving, I'm very proud of the way the military is respected and recognized here in Oklahoma.
This deployment reminds us all of the large military presence we have in our state with the Oklahoma National Guard, Tinker Air Force Base and Fort Sill. There are countless service men and women that have or continue to serve our country living in our community. We thank you.
To all the military members preparing for this deployment and the family and friends who hold you dear, we appreciate all you are doing and cannot wait to welcome you back home in true Oklahoma style!
You should know that if you were deployed for more than ninety days between January 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010 you may still qualify for the First Time Buyer Tax Credit when purchasing a home. You have until April 30 of this year to enter into a sales contract and then until June 30 to close on the sale.
