My nephew who is 19 years old called me from Connecticut this morning to tell me he was waiting in line at the Danbury Mall for a Play Station3. He was waiting with 50 other Play Station fanatics who were eagerly seeking to be the new owners of a Video Game!Maybe, the media fuels the hype, who knows he was waiting in line 10 hours, having a blast before it got ugly!

Hard to imagine, something like this could turn violent, but apparently once the doors opened some people in line started going berserk, they began to slap, punch, kick the other patrons in hopes of getting inside!

My nephew isn`t a small kid, he`s 6`1 215 pounds, so I know he can defend himself. He was hit in the head from behind and pushed aside by three thugs!

Has the entire world gone crazy? How is it possible that people would beat each other up for a video game? What does that say about people, who have to attack others for a Play Station?

My nephew swears the thugs who pushed him were adults who looked to be in their 30`s! They never waited  in line like the majority of the kids, they arrived 1 hour before the doors opened.

I realize that it takes all kinds to make a world, but to capitalize and make a buck by going berserk in a mall, is insanity!  What the heck is happening in the world?

People have gotten too agressive. I witness this each day I drive on I-95. People drive as if they`re NASCAR drivers..

Scott watching the news yesterday I was in shock.  It takes me back to the days of the first "tickle me Elmo" craze.  How a toy can create such a riot amazes me.

Jennifer,

I have no idea, people`s attitudes have changed. Are we getting more violent as a country?

We went to Circuit City to look at iPods for my sister on Tuesday night and people were camping out until the Friday release..What a joke! Those are the same parents that wouldn't take their kids camping for a good family trip for that long and would rather put their kids in front of a tv for half the day to get fat and lazy...

The worst part is that many of the violent acts aren't inspired by the desire to have the latest video game but rather to be the first to put it on Ebay in hopes of making thousands of dollars.

Sad news and with today's release and line ups for Nintendo's Wii system, unfortunately we may see more of the same behavior.

The police needed to be called to the mall near me-

It was nuts the store got about 16.

THEY HAVE ANOTHER 160 ALREADY PRE-SOLD!

I'd like one too, but get a grip people!

I'm glad your Nephew is OK.

Marc,

Must be a new trend! Getting "Jacked" for a video game. Violence seems on the rise..

Marti,

I hope they have store security linned up.

Scott G.,

Happy Holidays to you!

Scott,

I’m one who very-much enjoys computer games—but know what has happened in previous much-anticipated debuts—I choose to wait a bit. Some folks just have to be first—no matter what it takes, ot who they might hurt. Just look every day on the highways at how folks jostle for position (curiously oblivious to the fact that no matter what speed they go, how often they change lanes, someone will always be in front of them). Go figure.

Playstation 3 should come out with a game, since violence of video games is in such demand these days, with a them of "the await and anticipation of the availability of the NEW Playstation 3 or 4 or 5". It's gotten out of control, the world is a chanin'!  That however, is pretty pathetic.

Didn't a lot of this start with Cabbage Patch Kids......what year was that?  And most of the brawlers were women.  Go figure.
