If you are planning a vacation or relocating to Hawaii you may want to know a few things about the Hawaiian Islands before you come. First of all, note that you will be embarking on a spiritual vacation or relocation of a lifetime. Our history is rich with many different ethnicities and notably there will be myths, folklore and legends as we have many Heiau's (sacred sites) still present and standing.
It's always a good idea to be proactive instead of jumping blindly into anything right?
They say that the Hukai'Po (who ka ee poe) or the Night Marchers are ghostly images who marched to the beat of drums through the valleys and over mountainous terrains to get to the other side of the island. These spirit warriors, armed with weapon were coming to or from battle carrying torches for light and beating their drums along the spots where there were battlefields.
MY STORY:
Up until early 2005 we lived on a ridge next to a valley on the very top of Kaonohi Street. On a few occasions I was awaked by faint beating of drums and I would wake my husband and he would listen with eyes wide open. One night we peeked out the window and saw a faint light and it was moving along with the sound of those faint beating drums.
We believed.
My father passed away on February 25, 2004 in Tacoma, Washington. Two days later I lay in bed listening to the Hukai'Po marching along deep in the valley. Moments later a gust of wind came through the window and blew across my face. It was a very positive wind and my thoughts were of my dad....at peace. We were so close...my dad and I.
We knew a man, "Ike", who did blessings and took negative energy out of the home. "Ike" started from across the street and finally got to our front door about half an hour later. He was blessing the surrounding area ...where the Night Marchers marched along the valley, the ridge and on their way to the ocean.
When he stepped into our home a force pushed my husband against the kitchen sink. My husband's eyes were of shock, amazement and an acknowledgement that something was taking place. "Ike" blessed my husband and continued around our small home to bless the rest of our home. When he was done his eyes sparkled at my husband and they both nodded in mutual ‘knowing'.
The negative spirits were at rest. Our home was cleansed and at peace.
Maybe it was just a time that I needed to believe my dad was at peace. Maybe it was a time when my husband and I just needed to bless our happy home to ensure continued happiness. Maybe we just believed and did what was best for our family and our home. Needless to say, I don't doubt what spirits are still walking our land and will honor and respect them and our land.
A Zen Master is one who teaches Zen Buddhism to others.
"Ike" also blessed my home.
