Rancho Penasquitos is a community in San Diego located approximately 15 miles from downtown San Diego and 5 miles inland from Torrey Pines State beach (my favorite beach). Nestled in between Carmel Valley, and Powa,y Rancho Penasquitos enjoys ideal weather - mostly sunny days, a slight breeze when you want it and clear blue skies. Although many homes have air-conditioning homeowners rarely turn them on, we just don't need them.
Rancho Penasquitos means little drags or rocks in Spanish but if you live here you would simply say it's hilly. Hard to ride a bike around town here unless you're a Ironman but you'll still see joggers, walkers and bikers out and about.
Rancho Penasquitos is part of the award winning Poway Unified School district and that is very important detail to many of the residents. The Academic Performance Index report released September 2010 shows Poway Unified School district schools increased their scores by 8 points to 883. All PUSD comprehensive high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools exceeded the state designated API target score of 800, which the state has set for all schools to reach by the year 2014. The kids are smart here and the teachers are working hard to help them.

My Home Sweet Home is a community of about 55,000 with over 4,000 acres. Residents enjoy the out door 
life with abundant hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Seven community parks serve the area and not a day goes by that people aren't enjoying the grass, playgrounds, basketball courts and great outdoors.
Three major events fill the calendar in Rancho Penasquitos - Fiesta de los Penasquitos, Fourth of July and Christmas Card Lane. The Fiesta is a street fair held the first weekend in May. It's a fun day to meet and great, eat and have fun. The Fourth of July is a star spangled event held at one of the High Schools and Christmas Card lane draws visitors from everywhere in San Diego to enjoy Christmas lights, wagon rides, model trains and Hot Chocolate. Oh and you'll hear Jingle bells and you might see Santa.
Rancho Penasquitos is my Home Sweet Home and I love it here. This inland community of San Diego has it all including beautiful homes.
