Realtor or beekeeper: is there a difference?

Awhile back, I wrote a blog about beekeeping. My point was to promote Lee County and its unusual businesses and offer a different take on Southwest FloridaOff To The Beekeeper's House.

The blog was also a way to talk about Alex (short for Alexandra) who lives in Lehigh Acres and recently obtained her beekeeper's license. Like I often do, I optimized the blog and its url with special meta tags and keywords in the major engine searches. The link was shown quite high in Google and other engines. As agents, we always look at different ways to attract new clients, present our region on localism.com but the result was not what I expected.

About a week ago, I began receiving telephone calls relating to this blog.  Even though my original blog I make it quite clear that I was a Realtor and was speaking of a friend, the callers had something else in mind. In all, there were four calls and the last one went like this:

-Hello this is Mrs X, may I speak to the beekeeper?

     - Nice to meet you. My name is LLoyd Nichols. I am  a  Real Estate.....( before I could finished the sentence ) she went on:

     - I have an allergy to bees and my shed in my back yard is full of bees and I need someone to get rid of them.

     - As a matter of fact I have a friend who is a beekeeper. How did you find my cell number?

     - I am not sure. On a web site, I think.

     - I wrote a blog on localism.com a while back about beekeeping. I am a Realtor. I can give you the number of my friend Alex, the licenced beekeeper.

I give her the number and all together passed over two other clients with bee problems. I did mention to all of them that if they needed a real estate agent in Lee County to sell or buy a home or know others who need beekeeping services, I would be glad to refer Alex for their beekeeping needs and to meet them and discuss their real estate needs. One of them may buy a  Fort Myers condo 1-2 months .Strange way to meet clients.Alex has offered my wife and I some delicious honey since then and free bee service.

Hi Lloyd, that's funny :)  It happens to me also with some neighborhood websites. They call me about the hours the clubhouse is open, they call about reserving the party room. I did link to the websites for the association and clubhouse, but I still get calls :)  sometimes people just don't read the info.

So did you go take care of those bees for her?? i'm kidding ... i kid! :)

see you later gator..

I am not surprised you get calls as I know that you are all over the place on the web and some people don't take the extra minutes to read.Funny about the clubhouse. They might return the favor and promote your business at the club.I even had one call from the local county jail from an inmate! Maybe they looking for a new profession.

Hey Lloyd, you mean the inmate wanted to become a beekeeper? I am understanding that right? that is WIERD!! but, i guess that could work for someone readjusting to society.
