Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Arizona Realty

Litchfield Park began life in 1916 in conjunction with the purchase of farm land by Goodyear Tire and Rubber to grow cotton to use in tire production.  Developed by and named (in 1926) after an executive at Goodyear, Paul Litchfield, it was the headquarters for Goodyear Farms.  In addition, it was the test site for auto, truck and tractor tires manufactured between 1931 and 1944.

Located 16 miles west of Phoenix, just north of I-10, this planned residential community has a small town feel and its own historic district adjacent to the four-star Wigwam Resort hotel.  The hotel was built in 1929 and boasts conference facilities and golf course, as well as award winning cuisine in the flagship restaurant, Arizona Kitchen.

Luke Air Force Base is a mere two miles north, and is the largest training center for fighter pilots in the country.

Further west lies the White Tanks Regional Park - named after natural rock water tanks used by Native Americans in a previous era.

A scant 3.1 square miles, Litchfield Park borders on Glendale, Avondale and Goodyear, and has an estimated population of 4,523 according to the 2006 Census Bureau Estimates.

I've seen some towns in California that seem to have more old tires on the front of peoples homes than that of the population in the town to begin with...lol

Thanks for the info :)
