Heat Wave Hits Connecticut!

Today Connecticut saw temperatures above 50 degrees for the first time in at least four months!  The snow is melting, the flowers are blooming, and spring is in the air . . . Okay, maybe not, but there was a little bit of melting and some payloaders were on the street to give a little more width to our road.  We can almost get to our mailboxes now.  This is what the area CAN look like--hopefully it will look this way again in the not too distant future.

Hi Chris, I am sure that Mother Nature is already doing her thing and she is getting ready to give you all the wonderful burst of new buds in the trees and ultimately a burst of color and warmer temps to help them grow.

Yes, loving this warm weather.  It is taking a long time for the snow to melt though, since there is so much of it.  Sheesh.  I'll just be happy when I can see grass again.

Hi Roy - Today is supposed to be another lovely day.  Supposedly the morning was going to be rainy, but I am looking out on sunny blue skys right now--no complaints!!  Thanks for the Yellow Clivia photo!

Hi Steve - I lived in Monument in the 90s.  When you talk about wind, most parts of the country don't really understand HOW windy it can get there!  Hang on to something sturdy!

Hi Pat - I wish the snow was almost gone here too--but I have to report that I did see a patch or two of grass!  (Where the payloaders had scraped a little beyond the curb.)

Hi William - We have many buds already as certain plants here bud in the fall and then bloom in the spring.  The squirrels have been doing their best to rid us of those buds however.  It has been a hungry winter for them.

Hi Tony and Darcy - You have to start somewhere, I guess!  This is, however, probably just the February thaw.  It gives hope, though!

Hi Debbie - Still have trouble seeing past those snow drifts while merging into traffic?  I know how you feel.  : )  Got to drive an SUV yesterday--it was so nice to be able to see the traffic!!

Hi Toni - One thing you will never hear from me (and anyone who knows me will confirm) I never complain about the heat!!  That is my kind of weather.

Yep, we had a bit of a melt going yesterday as well. It let a few of the neighbors know that they need to replace the mailboxes as enough snow melted to allow them to tumble to the ground. Plow victims.  Come on Spring!

I hope the warm weather lasts through out the weekend and that you get to relax and enjoy the good weather. It is very warm here in Flower Mound today. I just shut off my heat and I hope I can keep it off!

You've had your lion's share of winter and I hope spring comes in like a lamb for you in beautiful CT. You people in NE deserve it!

Hi Ed - I think there were more plow victims than survivors!  My own survived because I have it in the "winter mailbox" postition.  In the winter it is next to the telephone pole on my property.  If the plow takes out my mailbox, the telephone pole will come down too.  But they showed me!  They didn't get within five feet of my mailbox, so I have had to have my mail forwarded for the last two weeks because the mailman won't deliver if they can't reach the mailbox.  I could not dig it out with all the ice that piled up on it.  The family across the street puts out a bag on a post so the mailman can deliver the mail.  : )

I really don't mean to rub salt in the wound but 50 is the temp at which I won't leave the house here in Sarasota, FL :) Sorry, I know you all have had a horrible winter this year. Hope it doesn't last too much longer!
