If You Are In Real Estate, Are You Also In The Technology Business?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Dynasty

If you are in real estate, are you also in the technology business? For many agents especially the ones that have been in the real estate business for a long time, the answer is "no".  Many agents doesn't have a decent website or a website at all. If the computer does not print or go on the Internet, they can't do anything until the computer technician comes and fix the problem. If the Blackberry or iPhone does not work or the contacts got accidently deleted, they can't make any call to get business or keep in contact with their clients.

Can we get away from technology? I find it really hard especially when technology are changing so fast and becoming easier to use. No longer do we leave messages on answer machines and hoping for a response the next day. Instead we expect almost an instant answer when we text others. We can save a trip to the client's house to have them sign some documents by using Docusign to get their esignatures.

So if you still believe real estate and technology are separate, don't be surprise when the techie agents do more business and make more money. If you believe real estate and technology are the same, what are you going to do to stay ahead since technology already change by the time you finished reading this!

Technology is a great way to differentiate yourself and excel, but the business is still about connecting with people.  Keeping the balance is what makes great agents successful.

You're right, it's hard to keep up with all this technology!  We just got an e-reader and I'm loving it, but think I still want an Ipad too.
