Very scary security issues at showing of listing

One of our agents ran into a situation yesterday, that I felt was worth sharing with everyone. Now is the time to be more careful than ever with the security of our listings.

We do personally show up to show most of our listings, both to help sell the home, get buyer feedback, and also to be sure nothing is taken or disturbed in the home.

Yesterday one of our agents showed a beautiful high end home. The buyers were oout of area buyers. They stayed in the home nearly an hour. The agent went out to her car and they did not leave so she waited about 10 minutes and then left. The owner of the home returned about 10 minutes later to find them still in the driveway and one person exiting the casita. The front door was ajar showing they must have reentered the home as well as the casita. Also, a closet holding a safe was opened and items were disheveled. Nothing seemed to be damaged or missing, but this is a good lesson for all of us to not leave homes unlocked and leave the area or leave clients in an area after the showing.

The agent was called and she said she should have stayed. We are thankful nothing happened, but will be sure that this does not happen again.

Lori- I'm glad to hear nothing more sinister happened, but this is a great reminder to keep an eye on closings and properties. Thanks for posting!

Very well presented Lori.  Security is VERY important for women and somewhat for men, too.

Great blog...keep up the great work.
