In this difficult market I hear and see things like this happening more & more
If a real estate seller comes in going up and down the sides of this broker, that one at Country 22, and the weasle at Robin Hood Realty.. the gun sights on the turret usually eventually pivot and come around to you in the cross hairs too.
Andrew - I agree. However, these guys weren't raking him over the coals. It was pretty normal stuff that hadn't been addressed.
Regardless, not jumping in and bad-mouthing the agent along with them is the key!
Good for you. Everyone talks and everyone gossips. If you had done any trash talk, it would have got back to Bob ~ one way or another. Be proud of yourself.
That is a great post...You handle it in a professional way.
Wishing you the best.
You know I came across this in a similar reverse situation. I helped a couple sell a home in one State and they bought one in the other state where I am licensed. They loved my service but at the settlement table they saw my surprised look. We talked and they said they didn't imagine I would travel to another state to assist them. Hmmm. I've learned many lessons, and one is to ask the very first question, "are you working with another agent". :) Glad to see you took the ethical high ground. I like that, Bob. :) Gail
Thank you Valerie and Josh! It is so easy to get in and sling mud. But I felt so much better by not!!!
Gail - I totally understand. We live right on the NC/GA/TN border and we have to remind people that they don't have to have another agent just because they want to look in more than one state.
Gossip travels very fast. Congrats on taking the high road and not bad mouthing their current agent.
Since my comment is a few weeks late...Did you get the listing?
Hey Anita - Not yet, it still hasn't expired. But I have been auto-emailing them listings from the MLS to stay in front of them. I'll keep you posted!
I think that trashing the competition only make us look bad (and well it should!)
Joni I totally agree. Taking the high road isn't always the easiest, but it is the most rewarding in the end!
You handled it right and even if you don't hear from them--you know you won't hear from the other agent or his broker.
Just to keep you all up-to-date - we have a listing appointment with this seller this week! Stayed tuned for the new listing!
Kudos to you for not forgetting our NAR code of ethics but evenso, you two are true professionals and wouldn't have conducted yourselves in any other way, code of ethics or no code of ethics.
Donna - thank you for the compliment!
