Painting Angelina Jolie...
I promised I'd pop in and say hi so here I am (LOL).
I'm painting a portrait of Angelina Jolie because she is one of my fave people and the walls in the FL house are still naked. I needed a break from writing my book so I've got Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Barcarolle" on while I sprawl across the futon sketching. It happens to be one of my favorite "romantic piano" songs. It always puts me in the best of moods when I start creating something new.
If you're going to sketch someone as cool, talented and gorgeous as Angelina Jolie you have to do it with mood music. Seriously... I always start with the eyes when contemplating a portrait and you really have to be quiet when you study them because the eyes are the windows to your soul and can express a wide spectrum of silent emotion.
When I pop back in later I'll share some of the pages from my sketchbook with you. It's been a while since I did that and AJ is coming along nicely. I may even compose something later. I'm in the mood for a quiet piano today. Did some punk music yesterday after a production meeting. I'll probably go into the studio and record some noise tomorrow.
In the mean time I have to swop out some of the paintings in our NY apartment and ship them down south. I also owe my gallery some work. I've been slacking in that regard lately. ;-)
