According to the US Army command, in 2010, they received 150,000 LEADS (to put it in real estate sales parlance) from their association with NASCAR and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
It would take them walking * marching * up and down a mall to talk to 150 people to engage ONE in a recruiting conversation.
NASCAR is CHEAPER and gets them MORE BANG for their approx $15m in sponsorship BUCKS.
The military's presence at the tracks, in the stands, on pit road AND in VICTORY lane are MORE effective than their other recruiting efforts.
KUDOS to the US Congress for voting DOWN this ill-thought amendment.
